For building your MicroArtwork model, the following tools are strongly recommended:
1. Cutting Mat With its self-healing surface it soon will become your new best friend. The grid will play a major role when you put together the handrails.
2. Snap-Off Blade Cutter your main cutting tool. 30° spare blades are superior to 45°, however more expensive. A metal handle is more stable and prevents the blade from swinging.
3. Scissors your secondary cutting tool. Use it for roundings only.
4. Rulers, Cutting Guides While metal guides are more resistant, transparent plastic does not block the view to the area you are cutting. The size of the parts of your Crawler model varies widely, so different lengths are helpful.
5. Tweezers For holding and putting together tiny parts. Typical surgical forceps are not recommended as their notch will damage the paper, however forceps used for biopsy are perfect.
6. Primers for rounding For rounded surfaces like cylinders use primers for a smooth rounding. A set of diameters from 1/24” to 1/5” (1 mm to 5 mm) is a good choice. Carbon fiber tubes in these dimensions are available in shops for kites or RC-models.
7. Punch & Die - Set Although not required, it is a great tool to make tiny openings or small circular parts. It is however incredible expensive.
